The Hartmans were encouraged to document the contents of their home after they were burglarized - twice. Through the years, Mike and Cindy have spoken to many others who have endured instances that necessitated filing an insurance claim yet did not have proper documentation of their belongings. Most stated that thousands of dollars worth of items were forgotten.

People admitted that their insurance agent suggested they complete this task. However, they didn't know where or how to even start. Many said it was too time consuming for the initial inventory, and knew they wouldn't keep it current. This information led to the birth of Hartman Inventory.
 

Mike and Cindy's desire to help others properly recover from a disaster motivated them to establish Hartman Inventory in 2004. Since that time, they heard of numerous other events when an inventory would have been helpful. For example, many executors are faced with the task of providing an inventory for a loved one's estate. The Hartmans help their customers through the emotional turmoil and time demands while dealing with their loss.

They are proud of the trusting relationship they build with their customers. Mike and Cindy are insured and hold a Business Services Bond, plus come with high recommendations from current customers, Insurance Agents, CPAs, Financial Planners and other professionals and business associates. They are Approved Speakers for Kiwanis International and also provide educational presentations for Rotary, Sertoma, Chambers of Commerce and a variety of other business, church and networking organizations.

Always seeking opportunities to provide education, the Hartman's have written and present a 1.5 CEU course for CPAs and accountants, titled "The Value and Benefits of Personal Property Inventories for Your Clients' Homes and Businesses." Additionally, "An Attorney's Guide to Estate Inventory" was co-written with Attorney Jennifer Ruby of Ruby Law which discusses the various circumstances an inventory is preferred or required. The husband and wife team attend a variety of networking events throughout the greater Indianapolis area. They jointly received the Rainmaker of the Year award in January 2008. Cindy is a member of NAWBO, the National Association of Women Business Owners, and serves on the Circle for Learning and Networking Committee.
